Games announced for Drop in and Play

Coming Sat 31 May

We're delighted to share the full list of developers who will be joining us for our Drop in and Play event, in partnership with Ninja Kiwi.

Taking place on Sat 31 May, this free event will showcase the work of 17 local game developers and will include brand new titles, along with favourites from previous Drop In and Play events. Drop in to DCA between 13:00 and 16:00 to be among the first to try these new games and meet the creatives behind them.

Team Dunkeld: De-Pict Dunkeld

Team Dunkeld will present De-Pict Dunkeld, in which the player explores the picturesque town of Dunkeld through a series of dioramas that depict 1300 years of Scottish history. Travel between different eras, exploring the locations and learning more about points of interest.

Daira Ronzoni: Corazón de Pachamama

Dairy Ronzoni will be showcasing two games, including Corazón de Pachamama, an open world game inspired by the Pachamama deity, who embodies the earth's most sacred ancestors. Explore an interactive space, engaging with an abundance of luminous fruits, flora and fauna.

Daira Ronzoni: Cosmic Ch'ixi

Daira Ronzoni's second game is Cosmic Ch'ixi. Delve into a stunning virtual landscape where metallic roots twist, a feathered snake glides and arms of water flow through an Earth tree. This game was commissioned in 2025 by New Media Scotland.

Team Penta: CyberRunner

Team Penta are a team of Masters students from Abertay University who will be showcasing CyberRunner, an automated side-scroller that has players travel through levels themed around cyber crimes - solve ethical dilemmas and mini games to preserve as much data as you can.

Konglomerate Games: The Lost Highlands

Indie studio Konglomerate Games will be bringing The Lost Highlands, a feel good adventure story which explores the connection between nature, culture and mythology. Restore the Scottish Highlands and discover what magic still remains.

Lulubear Games: Magnet Bros

Solve puzzles around magnetic polarity with Magnet Bros, presented by two-person studio Lulubear Games. Strategically place magnets on the map to help Little Magnet navigate between obstacles and reach the flag.

Team Bubsi: Rennie Room Decorator

Express your creativity with Rennie Room Decorator, a 3D room decorator game from Team Bubsi. Based on the Oak Room at V&A Dundee, the player is in control of curating the room based on the briefs and requests of a series of clients.

Spiky Teeth Studios: Overcat

New studio Spiky Teeth Studios will make their Drop in and Play debut with Overcat, a twin-stick two-player brawler about cats battling with swords. This highly competitive game is suitable for all skill levels, from absolute beginners to seasoned brawl players.

Scott Ewing: RopeBot

Independent developer Scott Ewing will be bringing RopeBot, a physics-based 3D platform which gives you unparalleled control over dynamic, realistic robes. Create, lengthen, throw and deactivate ropes at will to overcome challenges and solve puzzles.

Studio Catloaf: Book of Abominations

Winners of the 2023 Dare Academy at Abertay University, Studio Catloaf will be returning with Book of Abominations, a Lovecraftian pixel art monster collecting RPG inspired by the likes of Pokémon and Final Fantasy.

Cognitive Games: Deadlocked

Cognitive is a new studio founded by Abertay University student Dominik Gawron. They’ll be bringing Deadlocked, a surprisingly cute top-down shooter where you can destroy spaceships while also unlocking pet companions and customising your character.

Sloth Doctor Games: Heldritch Rush

Sloth Doctor Games, a team of Abertay students who formed for DARE Academy, will be presenting their game Heldritch Rush, a 90s-inspired isometric rail-shooter with added accessibility features.

Oblation Studios: The Shepherds

Oblation Studios consists of Abertay University graduates and current students. They will be showcasing their monster-catching game The Shepherds , which combines pixel art sprites with a 3D environment. A must for fans of Pokémon!

Pretty Interesting Experiences: Sight Unseen

Pretty Interesting Experiences, a game development team composed of Abertay University students, are bringing Sight Unseen, a virtual reality stealth game that breaks the boundaries of the medium by allowing players to see from multiple positions at the same time.

Ghost Camp: Forest of Deceit

From Ghost Camp, the creators behind Dare Academy hit Tales of Treachery comes Forest of Deceit, a 4-8 player social deduction game which features a beautiful hand-drawn art style.

Ant Workshop: Mines and Slimes

Ant Workshop, a small indie studio based in Edinburgh, are returning to Drop in and Play with their new game Mines and Slimes. You must mine materials from Slime Mountain, but watch out for angry slimes who'll sabotage your plans!

Niall Moody: making it up as we go along

From artist, game developer and lecturer Niall Moody comes making it up as we go along, a tabletop game about changing the rules and inventing new ones. All of the rules of making it up as we go along are invented by the players, creating an ever-evolving game.

532 Design creates sports games for mobile and web platforms, and are seeking feedback on their latest mobile game Crowd Legends, a fantasy sports app which lets users build their dream football team.

We can't wait to welcome all of these developers and their games to DCA on Sat 31 May - drop in between 13:00 - 16:00 to get involved!

Drop in and Play is a free DCA gaming event which was first held in November 2012 as part of NEoN Digital Arts Festival and Discovery Film Festival. Our May event is presented in partnership with Ninja Kiwi who have been making awesome games since 2005. Developers of the hit Bloons series of games, Ninja Kiwi are always striving to make the most enjoyable experiences for audiences across the globe from their offices in Dundee, Scotland and Auckland, New Zealand.
